Mumbai: Maharashtra is on fire for the demand of the Maratha reservation. Protests and unrest spread across the state. In the meantime, Manoj Jarange Patil, one of the agitators demanding Maratha reservation, gave a dire warning to the Chief Minister. On Tuesday, he warned the state government, “If the Maratha reservation is not approved immediately after holding a special session, I will stop drinking water.” Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde called him immediately after the threat. They talked for about 20 minutes.
Agitator Manoj Jarange Patil has been on hunger strike for the past 7 days demanding the reservation of Marathas. On Tuesday, he warned Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and two Deputy Chief Ministers, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, saying, “If the government does not take a constructive decision on Maratha reservation by November 1, I will stop drinking water from the afternoon.” I don’t know what effect it will have on my health, but what happens next, the state government will be responsible. Maharashtra is a peaceful state. But I think the state government doesn’t want that. So I am warning the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers, especially one (Devendra Fadnavis) not to test our (Maratha) patience.”
Stating that the state government’s half-promises on reservation will no longer be accepted, Manoj Jarange said, “I have made it clear to the Chief Minister that no half-promises will be accepted. I want a reservation for all Marathas. Marathas and Kunbirs are one, the primary occupation of both classes is agriculture. So the reservation certificate which is being given to Kunbis, should be given to all Marathas. ”
Incidentally, on Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to activist Manoj Jarang on the phone. In the speech of about 20 minutes, he assured that the state government was taking appropriate steps for the Maratha reservation. Let him take care of his health.
