New Delhi: Trying to hack the phone of opposition leaders! That warning also came on the iPhone. Trinamool MP Mahua Maitra made such an explosive claim on Tuesday. From Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to AAP MP Raghav Chadha, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi supported his claim. All of them claimed to have received hacking warnings on their iPhones. Union Minister Piyush Goyal rejected this demand of the opposition. According to him, someone must have played a prank or joke with the opposition leaders.
In an interview given to news agency ANI on Tuesday, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, “I think someone played a prank on the opposition leaders. They should file an official complaint. The government will take appropriate action based on the complaint.”
Taking a dig at the opposition leaders, the Union Minister said, “Currently, the opposition is going through a very weak period, that’s why they see corruption in everything. The real truth is that Apple itself has reported that there are some technical problems, and many people in 150 countries have received this message. It seems there is a problem on Apple’s side. Besides, hackers are also very active. It will be investigated. Apple has also been asked to join the investigation.”
Piyush Goyal further said, “They (the opposition) can demand anything, but the whole country knows their situation. They are busy fighting among themselves. They should focus on their own weaknesses instead of commenting on us. The government has no role in it (Apple’s hacking message). There was no need for the government to do any such thing.”
On Tuesday, Trinamool MP Mahua Maitra first accused the phone hacking attempt. He said that he got a warning on his iPhone saying that his phone was being hacked. After that, Congress All India President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary KC Venugopal, UP MP Raghav Chadha, and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also claimed that they received hacking warnings on their phones. All at once pointed the finger of complaint at the central government.
