An indoor meeting was organized by ‘Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan’ at Bharti Bhavan, Asansol. Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan leader Salkhan Murmur was supposed to be present there. Before this meeting started, several supporters and leaders of the ‘Maji Mapanji Marwa’ organization reached in front of Barnpur Bharti Bhavan. They protested with black flags. A large police force from the Hirapur police station reached the spot.
Besides, officers of ACP rank of police arrived and normalized the situation. Salkhan Murmu on behalf of Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan said, “Peaceful meetings can be held anywhere according to the rules of the constitution. Some people are preventing them from holding these meetings.”
On the other hand, Motilal Soren from the Majhi Mapanji Marwa organization said, “Our area is peaceful. He is making such statements that our brothers are getting confused. Therefore, I am opposed to his statement.” After the incident, the Triveni intersection of Barnpur was blocked by the Adivasi Sengal Abhiyan organization. Adivasi Sengal Abhiyan members started the protest. A large police force was deployed to handle the situation. Later, the blockade was lifted with the assurance of the police.
